Owner of record is an observed name carried by a property or assessment record. It is a strong starting point for research, but it is not a finding of beneficial ownership or present control.
Property → recorded owner → entity registration → candidate parent
Start with the property identifier and preserve the parcel or assessment key. The owner string is the name a jurisdiction publishes for that property record; it may lag a later transfer or use a shortened legal name.
Compare the recorded grantee in the county instrument index with the assessment owner. Then normalize the name against a state entity registration, keeping the filing jurisdiction, registration number and address in the evidence path.

What the chain does not establish
- A mailing address is a location signal, not proof of control.
- A normalized entity match is a candidate relationship until reviewed.
- A registered agent or manager is not automatically a beneficial owner.
- Missing officer data or a conflicting registration must remain visible.
